How to Boost Your Summer Sex Drive
Summer is the perfect season to boost your libido. You’re outside more often, wearing less clothing, probably feeling flirtier, so naturally your thoughts can easily stray to your next O.
There are certain things you can do to take your sex drive to the next level. Below are some tips you can use to prime yourself, physically and mentally.
In case you didn’t know, exercise increases your sex drive! (If that doesn’t get you moving, what will?) It comes with increased testosterone levels, which cause greater arousal and energy. Exercise also releases endorphins, which aids in orgasm, as well as increases blood flow, which will send more blood down to the genitals when it’s time for intercourse.
Now that summer is here, you can step up your workouts, or switch them up as you see fit. Take advantage of the warm weather and go for a swim, a hike or a run on the beach. As you get used to exercising regularly, you’ll increase your sexual arousal and responses over time. And if you ever don’t feel motivated, just remember that you’re investing in your sexual future!
Healthy eating works in tandem with exercise to create a better body and positive body image. (After all, you’ll have more concentrating on getting that great orgasm when you’re worrying about your body during the act.) We’ve all heard the basics: eat lots of fruits and veggies, don’t eat processed foods, etc.
Summer is a great season for the sheer variety of fresh fruits and veggies available, so that negates one excuse not to eat healthily. Lots of beneficial foods are in season: Broccoli’s iron helps boost energy, which aids in increasing your sex drive. Black raspberries enhance both sex drive and staying power. And watermelon contains compounds that allow for easier blood flow, the better to rush blood to the genitals when the time comes.
Try something new – and daring
Summer is also a great time to try new things: traveling to a new city, trying out an activity you’ve been interested in, or exploring new places where you currently live. But how about going for something that gets your adrenaline pumping?
When you’re doing something physically exciting, such as surfing or bungee-jumping, you’ll feel more energetic and alert from the adrenaline. Adrenaline causes your blood circulation to increase, which is comparable to what happens during sex. Studies have also shown that people taking part in adrenaline-heavy activities find current (and potential) partners more attractive. So step out of your comfort zone to get your blood flowing!
This probably sounds counter-intuitive from the tip just above. But this is perhaps the most important tip: relax and have fun! Summer is the time to spend some downtime, whether that’s by yourself, with a partner or partners and/or with friends and family. It’s important to ground yourself and take some deep breaths once in a while.
Relaxing will also help your sex drive: The more relaxed you are, the greater your libido will be. If you’re tensed up while trying to reach your big finish, your orgasm will seem further and further away. When you’re relaxed, testosterone levels are elevated, and help you feel calmer. You can relax by taking some deep breaths or by meditating.
With the above points in mind, you’ll be ready to turn the heat up on your sex drive this summer! But ramping up your libido doesn’t have to stop there. Keep up these tips on a regular basis, and you’ll feel the effects long after Labor Day!
