We came home last weekend to a lovely surprise... our XBiz award arrived! That's again Sara Ramirez for Home Party of the year! She looks great next to our AVN award for Best Boutique 2018. Stay tuned for the next chapter of where Pepper's Parties is going! Carrie Barnes has been amazing and there's more to come.

I saw a recent Pure Romance post that said: "No strangers in your home running the show." Kathi Pepper talked about it.
That line stopped me cold.
Because it's deeply ironic.
Pure Romance is now using the idea of "strangers" as a problem—when their own business model created that experience in the first place. In their own words, this ad quietly acknowledges that something about their core product made people uncomfortable.
Before going any further, this also needs to be said clearly:
Many educators, solopreneurs, and smaller companies succeeded in sexual health and wellness despite the Pure Romance model—not because of it. The PR structure emphasized rapid recruiting over skill-building. The result was high churn, which meant hostesses repeatedly met brand-new presenters with new boxes of toys.
That's not a failure of intimacy education.
That's a failure of structure.
PR's move away from the party-based MLM model makes business sense for them. But reframing the past as a problem of "strangers in homes"—while announcing they're now selling a BOX OF SEX TOYS—continues to center product over people. Whether intentional or not, this ad diminishes the professionalism and entrepreneurial spirit of those who did this work thoughtfully and well.
At Pepper's Parties, Kathi and I chose a different path over 30 years ago—people, education, relationships.
Boxes don't make relationships.
People do.
